Paryaya Festival Celebration at Vidyodaya Public School – Pre-Primary Section

The Pre-Primary Section of Vidyodaya Public School celebrated the Paryaya Festival with great devotion and enthusiasm. The programme was organized to introduce children to the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Udupi.


The Pre-Primary Coordinator, Smt. Latha R. Nayak, warmly welcomed the  School Treasurer, Sri U Padmaraj Acharya,  and the School Principal, Smt. Anitha P. Raj.


The programme began auspiciously with the blowing of the conch by the School Management Committee Member, Sri U Padmaraj Acharya, along with the School Principal, Smt. Anitha P. Raj.


The students beautifully enacted the rituals of the Paryaya Festival. Children were dressed and enacted as Swamijis, depicting the ascending Swamiji of Shiroor Matha, Sri Vedavardhana Theertha Swamiji, taking the holy dip at Dandatirtha, followed by the grand procession at Jodukatte. During the procession, students appeared in colourful traditional attire and portrayed various roles such as Kelu Kudure, girls carrying Kalasha, Horakanike, Kambala look, tribal attire, Krishna and Radha with Bhajan Kunitha, Dashavatara posters, Tiger Dance, were accompanied by Tableau.


All the important rituals of the Paryaya Festival were meticulously followed. At the Sarvajna Peetha,the students  dressed and enacted has the outgoing Swamiji of Puttige Matha ceremoniously handed over the Akshaya Patra to the ascending Swamiji of Shiroor Matha. This was followed by the Darbar ceremony where all the Swamijis participated.

A cultural dance programme was then presented by the children, after which Prasada was distributed by the Swamijis. The School Treasurer, Sri U Padmaraj Acharya, expressed his happiness and congratulated the students and teachers for their excellent efforts. The School Principal, Smt. Anitha P. Raj, also appreciated the programme and expressed her joy over the successful celebration.


The celebration was a memorable and enriching experience for the children.
