Makara Sankranti Activity at Vidyodaya Public School – Pre-Primary Section

The Pre-Primary Section of Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi, conducted a vibrant Makara Sankranti Activity with great devotion and enthusiasm.


The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the respected Principal, Smt. Anitha P. Raj. The Principal was warmly welcomed by the Pre-Primary Coordinator, Smt. Latha R. Nayak.


The teachers beautifully recreated the festive atmosphere of Makara Sankranti as celebrated at Sri Krishna Matha, Udupi. Children joyfully participated by bringing the Utsava Murti in a palanquin to Madhwa Sarovara. After the Teppotsava, the Utsava Murti was taken to the Ratha (chariot) and placed respectfully.


The students of Sri Krishna Shishumandira, LKG, UKG along with the principal, coordinator and all the teachers of  pre primary section pulled the 3 chariot Mahapuja Ratha ,Garuda Ratha ,Brahma Ratha.


The celebration also highlighted Makara Sankranti traditions from different states of India. Students of each section explained the significance of various traditions.


The Shishumandira children represented Lohri, Bihu, Pongal, and Uttarayan (Kite Festival).


The LKG students explained Kumbha Mela, Makara Jyothi, Holy Dip, Ellu Bella, and Kite Flying.


The UKG students explained Teppotsava, and Choornotsava.

As part of the celebration, Ellu Bella was distributed to all the children, colouring activity was conducted, which the children enjoyed immensely.


The Makara Sankranti celebration was a meaningful learning experience that helped children understand and appreciate our rich culture, traditions, and values.
