Vana Mahotsav Celebration 2026 – “32 Saplings, One Promise – A Greener, Healthier Tomorrow”

Introduction

In its continued commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable living, Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi, celebrated Vana Mahotsav 2026 with great enthusiasm from 6th to 8th July 2026. The celebration witnessed the active participation of students from Classes VI to X, teachers, coordinators, and support staff, reaffirming the school’s dedication to nurturing environmentally responsible citizens.

Vana Mahotsav, popularly known as the Festival of Forests, is celebrated across India to promote afforestation, conserve biodiversity, and create awareness about the importance of protecting our natural environment.

Inauguration

The celebration commenced with an inspiring address by Principal Mrs. Anitha P. Raj, who emphasized that trees are the lifeline of our planet. She encouraged students to become ambassadors of environmental protection by planting and nurturing trees that would benefit future generations.

Highlights of the Celebration

One Child – One Tulasi Sapling – One Future

Students of Classes VI, VII, and VIII enthusiastically planted nearly 100 Tulasi saplings within the school campus. Each class accepted the responsibility of nurturing the saplings throughout the year, fostering a sense of ownership and care for nature.

The students of Classes IX and X carried out a special plantation drive by planting 32 medicinal and indigenous fruit tree saplings across the campus.

●     Lemon

●     Grapefruit

●     Avocado

●     Rambutan

●     Custard Apple

Each house actively participated in planting and adopted the saplings for regular care and maintenance.

Environmental Awareness

Students actively participated in planting, watering, and learning about the ecological importance of trees. An Environmental Pledge was administered, where every participant pledged to protect nature, conserve biodiversity, and contribute towards building a greener planet.

The programme served as a practical lesson in environmental responsibility, teamwork, and sustainable living.

Acknowledgement

The programme was successfully organized under the visionary leadership of Principal Mrs. Anitha P. Raj with the dedicated support of Mrs. Saku, Mrs. Shubha Rao, all teaching staff, non-teaching staff, and enthusiastic student volunteers.
