The high school section of Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi, celebrated Deepavali along with a vibrant Business Mela organized by the Commercial Students with joyous and rejoicing energy on 18th October, 2025.
The celebration began on a bright note with the lighting of the lamp by all the teachers around a beautifully designed rangoli filling the campus with the spirit of ecstasy. Deepavali, the festival of lights, symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and goodness over evil. The festival brings up a light of hope that patience prevails over arrogance. Celebrating such divine festivals makes all of us connected to our roots of culture and tradition.
This was followed by a talent show by the Class 10 students, who showcased their artistic and creative talents through dance and music. Their performances not only added joy and colour to the event but also reflected the importance of celebrating culture with enthusiasm and showcasing one’s talent.
The highlight of the day was the Business Mela, organized by the Commercial Application students under the guidance and support of Mrs. Chandrika Bhat, Commercial Application teacher. The students set up a variety of stalls selling accessories, handicrafts, delicious food items, and fun games. The mela provided students with a hands-on learning experience — encouraging teamwork, creativity, communication, and entrepreneurial thinking. The purpose of the event was to develop entrepreneur skills and help students understand the basics of marketing, sales, and customer interaction in a practical setting.
The school grounds turned into a lively marketplace. Visitors — including teachers, students, and parents — were highly impressed by the innovative ideas of the young entrepreneurs. The stalls buzzed with excitement as the customers eagerly approached to explore, the cheerful calls of sellers, and the winning spirit around the game counters truly created a festive mood.
The event successfully combined celebration with learning, spreading festive cheer while nurturing the spirit of enterprise and collaboration among students. It was truly a day of lights, laughter, and learning!
We thank our Management, Principal, co-ordinators and teachers for their support and guidance.
