Saturday, July 26, 2025, was a day to remember for the students of Grades 6, 7, and 8 at Vidyodaya, as the school came alive with the colours, flavours, and rhythms of Aatidonji Dina—a cherished celebration that captures the spirit of Tulunadu’s rich heritage.
The festivities began on an auspicious note with a soulful invocation and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising the light of tradition and knowledge. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Nagaraj Ballal, President of the School Managing Committee, Smt. Roopa Ballal, Joint Secretary, and the esteemed Principal Mrs. Anitha P Raj, whose presence added grace and warmth to the occasion.
What followed was a captivating cultural programme that showcased the incredible talent of our middle school students. Through a vibrant medley of songs, dances, and skits, the students brought to life the timeless stories and traditions of the region. A unique Antakshari segment, beautifully themed around Bhagavad Gita shlokas, added a spiritual and intellectual flair to the celebration.
The showstopper of the event was the electrifying tiger dance performed by the boys of Grade 8, which enthralled the audience with its energy, rhythm, and authenticity. Beyond the stage, the spirit of the day continued with traditional food stalls, with traditional dishes lovingly sent by the parents of Grades 6 to 8. The aroma of local delicacies filled the air, offering everyone a true taste of Tulunadu. A game counter, bustling with enthusiastic participants, added fun and excitement for students and families alike.
Adding a noble touch to the celebration, all proceeds from the event will be donated to Neelavara Goshala, maintained by the Govardhan Giri Trust, Udupi—an initiative envisioned by Shree Vishvesha Theertha Swamiji and Shree Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji for the protection and welfare of cows. This charitable act aimed to foster a spirit of service and compassion among students, encouraging them to give back to the community.
In every sense, Aatidonji Dina at Vidyodaya was a heartwarming celebration of culture, compassion, and community. Kudos to the dedicated students, parents, and teachers of Grades 6, 7, and 8 for curating an experience that will linger in the memories of all attendees for days to come.
