The auspicious Aksharabhyasa ritual was conducted at Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi, for the students of LKG, marking the formal beginning of their learning journey. The term Aksharabhyasa refers to the traditional practice where children are introduced to the world of letters.
The programme began with a warm welcome by Pre-Primary Coordinator, Smt. Latha R. Nayak, who addressed the gathering of enthusiastic parents and eager little learners. The event was graced by Sri U. Padmaraj Acharya treasure school management committee.
The ceremony commenced with a melodious prayer song by the LKG students, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the light of knowledge and wisdom. The school Principal, Smt.Anitha P.Raj in her address, emphasized the significance of Aksharabhyasa and its role in laying a strong educational foundation for young learners.
The ritual was conducted by Sanskrit teacher, Sri Ganesh Somayaji, who guided the parents through the traditional steps. Following his instructions, the parents helped their children by writing "Om" on a rice-filled plate using arasina kombu (turmeric stick), a symbolic gesture marking the child’s initiation into the world of learning.
Adding to the grace and sanctity of the occasion, both parents and students arrived in traditional attire, creating a vibrant and culturally rich atmosphere.
The event was filled with divine blessings, joyful moments, and a sense of cultural pride, creating lasting memories for the children and their families.
